Remember being very young and hearing certain things from your parents? Remember how you thought they were so ridiculous and how (in your mind at least) they couldn’t possibly be true? And then you grow up, and sure enough, everything they told you was true!
Here are a few my parents told me (I’d love to hear yours as well).
- Don’t be in such a rush to grow up.
- Life isn’t fair. There will always be someone with more, and someone with less. People have different talents and abilities. And this is perfectly OK.
- You’ll want to take a nap when you are older.
- Just be yourself.
- Make your own sunshine.
- Raisins are flies with their wings and legs pulled off.
OK, I admit, that last one is just funny (and I totally fell for it). There are many more of course, but lately I have been thinking a lot about that first one. Why were we in such a hurry to grow up?
