Have you had a King Cake before? It is delicious, and delightful, and oh so pretty! Not only did we get a chance to try a King Cake from Sucré, but we also get to give one away. You are going to want to win this, trust me.
Our King Cake arrived via mail, and I am thrilled to say it was not only in once piece, but it was packaged in a fun way (the box is full of New Orleans charm), and there were even some Mardi Gras beads included, and of course, a baby.
Since the 1800s, New Orleanians have celebrated the beginning of the Carnival Season with a “King’s Cake” on Twelfth Night (also called King’s Day). A small plastic baby is hidden in the cake, and the person who finds it gets good fortune for the year! They also continue the festivities by having another party and providing another King Cake. It keeps the fun going!
This is delicious as a breakfast, dessert, or anytime snack. In fact, it’s so delicious we finished ours off in a day, starting at breakfast. I didn’t even get a chance to take a proper photo of it before it was gone, it was just that good! And the fact that it sparkles, and has gold, purple and green on the icing, just adds to the special feeling of this pastry.
