A Tale of Light and Shadow; Secrets of Neverak

The second installment in the A Tale of Light and Shadow series is finally out. Luckily, I got a chance to read it already! Secrets of Neverak wastes no time getting to the adventure!

SecretsofNeverak The first book leaves us wanting more, as it had quiet a dramatic ending. The battle at the Iron Pass was a disaster, Isabelle was taken to the Emperor, and poor Brandol met a terrible fate.

The story really starts to unfold in the second book as we learn more about The Path, more about what the Emperor has planned, and we meet people connected to our main characters in surprising ways. Each chapter leaves the reader wondering about the fate of the remaining band of friends. Will they rescue Isabelle in time? Will Maggie accept who she really is? And what about Henry and his crippled arm? How will he fight for his true love when he can’t even raise a sword?

I enjoyed the second installment a lot. It was full of adventure and intrigue, even more so than the first book. We meet new people from new lands, some of whom are helpful while others are downright awful. There is also a lot more about about the backgrounds of the main characters. Of course, not everything is revealed right away. And we are certainly left hanging at the end.

My only complaint is that the third book isn’t out yet! I’m ready for more.
