Flower Bandits Strike Again!
This is getting to be a little much. This time, they cut off our tulips. All of them.
Honestly, it makes me not want to plant anything in our front yard because I know that they will just be cut off. I worry that when our iris and peonys start to bloom that they too will go missing. And obviously, this bandit plans ahead with scissors and everything. It feels extrememly personal, and quiet a violation of space… these flowers are all up very near our home, not near the sidewalk or anything.
With all the other negativity and heartache in the world, this is a very small thing… however, with all of the heartache I would think people would try to be kinder and nicer to each other. That’s what I try to do, but apparently when it comes to pretty flowers the golden rule doesn’t apply and people feel free to tresspass and steal all they want.

I have always loved things that had a bit of sparkle, so that may be why I love these beaded sconces. Sure, it’s not totally practicle to have votive candles lit all the time, but two of these flanking our headboard would make such a romantic addition to the master bedroom.

Hurray for Hardwood!
I finally got the OK from hubby to put hardwood in my office. He was concerned that it would be weird for resale not to have carpet, but at this rate we will have to replace carpets anyway before we sell (many years from now). So, I am going to lay some Pergo which will make cleaning up after our bird ten times easier than trying to remove poop and seeds from the carpet.
I will post before and afters as soon as the project starts… for now the hardest part of the project will be coming up with the money. But at least I am one step closer!!

It seems like inspiration for design can come from a lot of places. One place that I often see things that I like is movies. Some of the styles may not suit my day to day life, but they can be fun to dream about and to think of ways to bring bits of the style into my home. For example, look at this delicious room from the movie Marie Antoinette.
I don’t know that I would ever have a house where are room exactly like this would work, but I love the idea of it. There are ways to bring in the feeling, without making an exact duplicate. For example, adding the blue color to a room. Or using mouldings to create panels. Or the use of painted white furniture instead of wood colored furniture.
What are movies that have inspired your home design dreams?
