Splish splash!

March 28th, 2007

Today our tub wall popped and is now coming away from the wall. I am both worried and excited, worried that it will be too costly to replace the old, yellowing, tub wall from the 80’s when our home was built… but excited that it may be in the budget, putting us one step closer to updating the look of the bathroom.

I was surfing the Lowes website and found this great tub surround! Our tub is white, so it would look great with it. Also, I really love the built in areas for shampoo bottles and the like. The wall color in the photo is actually pretty close to what I painted our bathroom, giving me a fairly good idea of what the whole thing could look like. Sadly, it’s $242.00, which is out of our budget for the time being, but it sure is fun to dream about, isn’t it?

Dirty, rotten, thief!

what was left

Our hyacinths were just lovely, and they smelled amazing. Their white blooms along our walkway were a pleasure to all who came to the door. Until yesterday. Someone took them! No, not bugs, thieves of the human variety.

On most of them it was only the stem with flowers that were cut, and they were very obviously cut with something sharp… but on one of them the dirty thief took everything. Look at what is left!

I am so sad and angry over this. The perp had to come all the way up our walk, and over a little fence too, to get our flowers. It was totally deliberate, and seems that it was planned out too, as they had something to cut with. And now, this bulb may not make a come back since it’s not going to have leaves to store energy with. I can’t even imagine doing something like that! What makes people think they have the right to go into someone’s garden and take whatever they please?

Style and comfort!

I am a fan of the beanbag. Sure, they aren’t the prettiest things in the world, but they sure are comfy. However, I just found a design that is both comfortable looking and stylish. Livingstones, just like their name suggests, look like stones and pebbels. The difference is, they are cushy and soft, perfect for lounging in. I think I have discovered a new idea for our home theater… an outdoor, nature theme, with these stones making up the seating. Wouldn’t that be a lot of fun?!

Kitchen before and after.

As you can see, we painted the cabinets, replaced the sink, replaced the countertop, got new appliances… and we did it all ourselves. The wall paint is actually a Venetian plaster that took 7 steps to complete, but we think it was worth the time and effort.
